Guyana Modernisation Fund
The GMF is a proposed fund under the draft Refugee Resettlement, Economic Integration, and National Modernisation Act 2025 (currently in legislative progress). Once enacted, it will serve as a dual-purpose initiative to:

PHASE 1: £1M in Progress

Core Objectives

Resettle Refugees: Prioritise displaced individuals with critical skills (doctors, engineers) or medical emergencies, integrating them into Guyana’s workforce.

Modernise Infrastructure:
Fund projects in healthcare, renewable energy, digital infrastructure, and Silica City (a planned smart city).

Provisional Framework

Funding Mix: £500M target via international grants, private investments, and diaspora bonds. Phase 1: £1M will be raised.

Transparency Measures: Mandatory public contract disclosures, INTERPOL-backed vetting, and anti-corruption tribunals.

Pilot Programs: Early collaboration with NGOs/private sector to test resettlement models aligned with the draft Act’s principles.

Why It Matters

For Guyana: Turns refugee resettlement into an economic opportunity, addressing skill gaps and accelerating development.

For Donors/Investors: Offers structured, auditable impact (e.g., "£1M = 200 refugee homes + 50 healthcare jobs").

Current Status

The GMF is rooted in the draft Refugee Resettlement, Economic Integration, and National Modernisation Act 2025, which is still undergoing parliamentary review.

Key provisions (e.g., funding structure, anti-corruption measures) are expected to remain intact, but adjustments may occur before enactment.

Moving Forward During the Legislative Process

Guyana’s Urgent Needs: Labor shortages and infrastructure gaps won’t wait. Early action creates momentum.

Donor Confidence: Transparency about the draft law’s status builds trust. All Phase 1 funds will be held in escrow until legal ratification.

PHASE 1: £1M Raise

We're still getting started, this first raise will show proof of concept and show the value of
